For self catering accommodation in Rutland, look no further than Forge Cottage in Edith Weston, one of the county’s most picturesque villages on the south shore of Rutland Water.

Forge Cottage is a lovely 19th Century stone house nestling in a picture-book perfect, quiet corner of this ancient Rutland village. Its large garden features a wealth of interesting plants, tranquil shaded paths and sunny, south facing lawn, as well as paved areas perfect for setting up the barbeque.

The house sleeps up to 8 in four bedrooms – one double and three twin bedded. The main, upstairs, bathroom, has a bath with shower over, whilst downstairs there is a further shower-room and second loo. The kitchen is modern and fully fitted with all appliances – cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and combined washing machine/tumble dryer. The sitting room features an impressive “four sided” open fire and a dining area easily seating 8 persons. In the sitting room you’ll find TV, video/dvd player and CD/radio, along with books, games, videos and lots of information on the local area. The house is centrally heated – all heating, logs, linens and towels included. Mobility Access Statement available - please enquire.

Edith Weston is perfectly located for so many activities. Rutland Sailing Club is to be found in the village and day sailing can be had on the North shore of the Water at Whitwell. The International Bird Watching Fair takes place only a few miles away along the shoreline and fishing, cycling and golf can all be enjoyed within a couple of minutes’ drive of the house. The famous Barnsdale Gardens, created by Geoff Hamilton, are very close by. And our beautiful, unspoilt Rutland countryside is all around, just waiting for you to get out and discover its unique charms.

Close by, too, are the market towns of Oakham and Uppingham, both with their impressive Public School buildings, Melton Mowbray (think pork pies!), beautiful, historic Stamford (TV’s “Middlemarch”) and magnificent Burghley House – home to the famous Horse Trials each September.

A little further afield, you’ll find the Rockingham racing circuit, home of British ASCAR racing and the astonishing National Space Centre in Leicester.
